Best This Week: Fifty Shades of Grey, No Easy Day, Lie Detective

From Gilbert Gottfried reading Fifty Shades of Grey to Lie Detective Jimmy Kimmel japing a poor kid, Whirled Peace gives you the best offerings from around the web this week. Now fix yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy.

• Gilbert Gottfried Reads Fifty Shades of Grey, reading it as only he can. Read Fifty Shade of Grey online.

Meet Alex Honnold and be inspired. He's not your usual mountain climber. He's the best mountain climber alive today, maybe ever. He defies gravity, scales steep rocks with no rope and apparently no fear. Put on a diaper and watch the video.

• Royce White faces his fear. He just gained a new fan. Rooting for his success in the NBA.

• Cigarettes And Alcohol: The Extraordinary Life of Jim Thompson. A word of caveat: if you're a kind of person who faints at the sight of blood, phallic objects or somesuch things, stay the fuck away from Jim Thompson. You will not like him. He conjured up savage, dog-eat-dog world, characters and stories that will fuck up your brain. But if you're a kind of person looking to buy a one-way ticket to hell, he’s your man. One of few writers you should only read. Otherwise, you've been warned.

• No Easy Day by Mark Owen. I successfully snagged a copy of No Easy Day by Mark Owen, pseudonym of Matt Bissonnette, one of the members of SEAL Team Six that raided and killed Osama bin Laden in Abbotabad, Pakistan. This is my first of a few books written by former SEALs, and I want to have them all. Read some chapters of the book with pictures, the parts that detail the killing of bin Laden and company.

Lie Detective Jimmy Kimmel japing a poor kid.

This week is a relatively slow one for me. Actually it’s just me. I ignored other things happening around this week when I got my hands on No Easy Day.

That’s that. If you got a link or tip for Whirled Peace blog, holler at me in the comment below or follow me on Twitter.
